Individual Therapy

Individual therapy sessions are tailored one-on-one experiences, adapting to your unique needs. They're conducted mostly virtually, offering accessibility and flexibility through a secure platform. Sessions typically run 45 to 60 minutes, adjusted to fit the therapist's style. Frequency is decided collaboratively, but starting with weekly sessions for the first 2-3 months is advised for goal-setting and progress evaluation. 

Initial sessions focus on building the therapeutic relationship, emphasizing collaboration, confidentiality, and open communication between client and therapist. It’s also essential in beginning this journey that you are ready to do the work. You see the value of having a therapist without a preconceived notion that therapy will “fix” or make all problems go away. We’re here to help, but the healing process is a journey and the agency is yours.

AREAS OF FOCUS

Empowerment-Focused Counseling: we provide individual therapy sessions that emphasize building self-esteem, addressing identity development, and navigating the unique challenges faced by individuals. 

Culturally Competent Therapy: we tailor individual therapy to address the specific cultural experiences of Black and Brown individuals, with a focus on empowerment, resilience, and navigating life transitions.

Perinatal Mental Health Support: we offer specialized individual therapy for individuals experiencing perinatal concerns, including prenatal and postpartum mental health challenges. We’re here to support you through issues such as anxiety, depression, and adjusting to parenthood.

Couples Counseling

Couples therapy involves sessions with both partners and the therapist. We begin by establishing rapport, including a "no secrets policy" and expectation-setting for the therapeutic process. Individual meetings with the therapist are available as needed. Sessions are held mostly virtually, offering accessibility and flexibility, lasting 45 to 60 minutes. 

At The Healing Centered Collective, we invite couples to approach therapy with openness and a willingness to explore new dynamics, whether it involves navigating co-parenting or separation. It's important to recognize that the goal may not always be to stay together but to foster understanding and growth. Therapy is a journey that requires ongoing collective and individual effort, both within and outside of sessions, to facilitate meaningful change and personal development.

Group Therapy

Whether it's finding sisterhood, addressing challenges, or celebrating achievements, our groups provide a supportive space for individuals to connect and grow. Specifically, those navigating perinatal concerns can find solace here, sharing experiences, receiving guidance, and acquiring coping strategies from a compassionate community.

In our group therapy sessions, we emphasize open-mindedness, receptivity to different perspectives, and respect for confidentiality. Clients are encouraged to explore new ideas, challenge assumptions, and engage in self-reflection while prioritizing confidentiality to maintain a safe and trusting environment. Through interactions with peers, clients develop interpersonal skills, receive feedback, and normalize their experiences, reducing stigma and empowering personal growth within a collaborative community.

Our group therapy process begins with orientation and introductions, establishing trust and safety while collaboratively setting goals. Thematic topics introduced by the therapist guide sessions, allowing members to share and process their experiences while providing mutual support. 

Incorporating skill-building exercises, mindfulness practices, and expressive arts therapy, sessions culminate in reflection and closure, with ongoing evaluation to ensure effectiveness and adjustment as needed.
